About
Lori Smith is an Atlanta based creative on a vibrant journey of self-expression and community engagement. Through art, Lori intends to educate, empower and foster creativity, making art accessible and inclusive.
Lori has loved and been surrounded by art for as long as she can remember. With a family full of artists, from naturally talented drawers and graphic designers to seamstresses, writers, musicians and more, the arts and creativity were and continue to be valued and nurtured.
In addition to her love for art, Lori was passionate about working with children. After graduating with a B.A. in Early Childhood Education and becoming a classroom teacher, Lori decided teaching art would allow her to work within both of her passions. She took a break from the classroom and worked as an art instructor for an art studio while pursuing an Art Education certification. After becoming certified, Lori returned to the school system as an art teacher, but after several years, Lori realized she wanted to use her art to make a different impact. She took a leap of faith and transitioned to full-time freelancing as an artist.
Drawing from many years as an educator and multidisciplined artist, Lori infuses her work with a powerful purpose. She works mostly with acrylic paints, combining vibrant colors, symbols and patterns to create images that reflect and empower the diversity of the communities she lives and works in.
In 2023, Lori launched Hearts to Hands ATL, LLC, dedicated to exposing marginalized groups to arts and providing a safe space for creativity through murals, events and visual arts programs.
